THE SPANISH UNIVERSITY: YES FOR THE ERASMUS, BUT NOT FOR THE ENTIRE DEGREE.

Foreign students prefer Spain for the Erasmus Programme, but not for their entire university degree.

This is one of the conclusions of the Conference of the Spanish Universities Rectors CRUE when at the beginning of this year they analysed the university systems of a dozen European countries, including ours.

According to the Spanish rectors, Spain is the only country of this study in which the rate of students studying abroad is greater than the foreign undergraduates.

European students like Spain. That is why they choose us for their Erasmus studies. But, what is the reason why they don’t want to complete their degrees in our universities?

If we try to put ourselves in the position of this young Europeans, everything fits. Spain is a country that offers a perfect mixed of studies and other non-academics features like climate, gastronomy, low prices and a complete variety of entertainment. In addition, they can learn Spanish, which is a language spoken for five hundred millions people all over the world. All of these make Spain as a perfect destiny to live one year experience.

But, when the matter is to complete their academic education, that will predetermine their professional and personal future, the European students prefer institutions in other countries with a better quality and reputation. As we published in this blog at the beginning of September, http://bioprofe.com//no-spanish-university-top-100-best-world/, the Spanish universities don’t have a good position in the international rankings about the quality in the college campus.

Once again our academic and politics authorities should analyse all these bad facts and take necessary actions to try to improve this situation.
